Vinegar rust remover

Just thought I'd share this with you on here and wondered if anyone else had tried soaking their old rusty base plates axles etc

I found one of my heaviest corroded base plate and decided to give this a go
I got a small plastic tub with a lid  on and filled it up just enough to cover the base plate and left it to soak in the vinegar for a week but  looked at  it every day and is rust free

I did not use any thing other than an old toothbrush to remove loose rust

And now all is needed is to clean with water and then dry it and will be ready to paint

I did hear that Coca-Cola supposed to be good as well I will have to give that a go

Great idea Ail. Have to try that sometime. If only I can find a baseplate which is too rusty to sandpaper.

These people can't remember Vinegar Joe from way back when. Perhaps if you said Elkie Brooks it might help.
