Well packed.I was just reading todays paper when a courier knocked with a large parcel for me. I haven't bought anything that big. The box itself was an A4 paper box. Inside was a Vanguards Capri and enough bubble wrap to cover my 2 seater couch.
I decided to see how many the box would hold..... 12 cars. It cost £6.50 next day delivery, I only paid £2.75. . The car cost me £19.75 inc p+p.

A touch of overkill maybe. I recently got a package that was 'trussed up" with packing tape and bubble wrap so much so that it took me for ever to get the contents out without damaging them. Maybe the sender had shares in the tape company. Ah well, better that than inadequate packing and a damaged item.

That is certainly a good bit of packaging
Have you managed to pop all the bubbles yet?

I once recieved a video recorder box containing a single Majorette car (Matchbox size for those of you not familiar with Majorette).
What a waste!

Well, I just recieved a parcel from UK, and I consider most of it only good for spares. It was very well packed, and does not seem squeezed. In it a Lincoln Continental, described by the seller as:
CAR IS IN FAIR TO GOOD CONDITION, AND HAS BATTERY HOLDER, IT IS MISSING PASSENGER SIDE FRONT JEWELLED LIGHTS AND FRONT DOOR, AND DRIVER SIDE END OF FRONT BUMPER AND PASSENGER SIDE END OF REAR BUMPER, NO INTERNAL TV SCREEN, AND IS OTHERWISE COMPLETE, SEE PICTURE FOR CONDITION.
As you can see in the picture the car broke in two, but glazing and wheels can be used.
Further a CORGI 1148 CARRIMORE Mk.1V CAR TRANSPORTER WITH SCAMMEL CAB, THIS MODEL WAS PRODUCED FROM 1969 TO 1970, IT IS IN GOOD CONDITION, SOME WEAR TO PAINT WORK AND COMPLETE EXCEPT FOR 4 TYRES, OTHERWISE SEE PICTURE FOR CONDITION, SEE PICTURE
As you can see one of the deck supports is broken, further it is missing five tyres, and the glazing of the truck was pushed in, not visable in the picture.

Don't really know what to say about those, Keesie. I would not even have the nerve to sell something in that condition.

Bloody hell Kees, I didnt expect It to be that bad. I would complain to Ebay and demand you are refunded.

The seller sells mainly other stuff, not diecast. The truck/trailer was about 12 pounds, the Lincoln only one pound. Still, his description of both items was not very well. Also he wanted to charge me 9 pounds at first for signed for, which I refused. (was not in the add anyway), so he charged me about 5 to send to Corgi Kid. Corgi then sent it to me, paid the extra postage (thanks Gary). The extra postage was about .......5 pounds.

What a mess Keesie.
The first posting on this thread............I can't imagine anyone shipping something in that big of box. What a waste of space. Shipping cost and all that.

When I told the seller about the state I got the models in, he said "we" should lay a claim with the Royal mail. I asked how to do that, and after 2 days I got a reply from the seller:
Hi, as you have sent them on from England to Holland you will need to claim from the last postal supplier and if it is the Royal Mail Gary Turner will need to make the claim, other wise you will need to contact your courier company and see what there policy is, and you will need to keep all packaging and contents as evidence for your claim, Steve
(don't worry Gary, nothing will happen to you!)
So I just sent a mail to Ebay-UK, with the full correspondence, and the picture of the broken parts. Just in case anyone wants to know, here are the links.

I did warn you what this seller was like Kees. His explanation is dreadful as you stated that the damage can be observed in the sellers pics. I would just leave neg feedback and claim from paypal. why should you have to claim from the Post office. Thats the same excuse he gave me . Boll*cks!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Gary, of course I would not contact the postoffice, neither the Dutch or the Uk, because that would lead to nowhere.
I already sent a mail to Ebay Uk with the complaint, about opening a dispute.
Some might think it is just a small amount to open a dispute about. That is besides the point, because the seller is obviously not into old models, and doesn't have any knowledge about these items, obviously. Therefore I think he should not have stated the models are in 'fair to good condition'.

Not too sure how the Forum would stand legally, but perhaps we should open a "Name and Shame" Board of dodgy and downright dishonest Sellers?

I am with you Sandie, let's make a list!

To offset that list we could also have a "Star Seller" list of First Class genuine Sellers.

Sandie I think your Idea is a great one. How many times have our members been sold short with damaged or misrepresented goods. Also It would be nice to know our forum members Ebay usernames. I think I have seen them somewhere but cant find them.

Yes Dean, I realize that. The wheels and tyres, steering could be used for spares, still not bad for 99 cents, but I don't feel good about it.

I would wonder how many times a seller sends an item that was broken before he shipped it and also with full knowledge of the broken item, he shipped it knowing this and then making the post office pay for it by asking the buyer to make a claim. By the same token how many times a buyer has an identical item that is broken and substitutes his broken one for the one he has bought thereby making a claim against the already beleaguered post office and getting a nice unbroken item free.

Ebay said they can't help, so negative feedback given, dispute just opened in Paypal.

Last month I opened a dispute with Paypal, about two times I recieved which were broken. Picture in a previous message in this thread.
I just recieved a message from Paypal:
Dear Kees Degelling
In order to continue with the investigation of your claim, we request
documentation to support your claim that the item is damaged or significantly not as described. Please obtain a document from an unbiased third-party, such as a dealer, repair shop, appraiser, or
another individual or organisation that is qualified in the area of the
item in question (other than yourself), which details the extent of the
damage or clearly explains how the item received significantly differs from the item advertised. Please do not proceed with any repairs or alterations to the item, as doing so will limit our ability to resolve your claim, and may result in its cancellation. If possible, the document should include a serial number and description of the item and the amount required to complete the repairs necessary to correct the damage. This document must be on letterhead paper that includes the name, address, and phone number of the individual, business, or organisation so that we may contact them if necessary. You can do this by following these steps:
(......description of the procedure)
I answered:Hello Paypal,
I consider myself a sort of expert in these items. They are both 40-50 year old Corgi Toys models, which I restore and collect. I wouldn't know anyone else in my aeria, who I can consult. Let's face it, if I did, it would cost more than what I paid for the items. Telling here the same story twice does not help, but looking at the Ebay pictures closely, item nr. 380167379527 has broken front pillars, and also the baseplate is loose, not mentioned in the add.
Item nr 380167353980 has no inside interior, which can be seen in the picture, and an extra tyre missing, not mentioned in add. The rear support of the trailer broke, as told and shown by me, but this is not visable in the Ebay picture.
Regards
Kees
