Hi Everyone,
My first post....Not sure if I should have put this in intros or not, apologies if I've done the wrong thing.
I'm David ,originally from Essex..now in Norfolk, not the end of the world, but you can see it from here.
Have to say firstly thanks to Gary and all for a really interesting and friendly forum .
I have a few Corgis and Dinkys from the 60's and 70's and I will own up to having had some of these from new.In the early 80's a friend took me to a swapmeet..never been to one before, and about the only boxed things I could afford were a couple of Corgi Routemasters.Kept these packed away for years...until ebay.Since then I have this compulsion to find more different ones.Thought I'd done quite well until I acquired a copy of John Gay's list and found out just how many there were.
I am of course clinically insane for this affliction.....but just wondered if anyone here shares the same problem..or is it just me ?
Regs to all,
David

Sorry..couldn't help but notice the Grannys NHK plate and blue Mk3.Have been trying to find the blue one since it was for sale on a Clacton car lot for GBP 295 about 8 or 9 years ago.A mate missed it then and weve no idea where it went.
And now I'm off topic....
keesie25

Correction, some members don't want to admit they HAVE to have that model.....

4000..........WOW   thats brave putting that amount up on here   i can just see Alice reckoning up how much she would get for them and how many shoe's she could buy

Thanks Gary...I feel much better now ! Can admit to having just under 400 Corgi Routemasters and only about 300 or so Corgis and Dinkys that arent buses....plus a few assorted Matchbox.
What is it I am not supposed to want or have Mr Keesie 25 ? Real Mk3 Cortinas ? Have seven of those and two Taunus 1s but only one Corgi with Graham Hill .You just cant have enough of a good thing !

That's mega interesting TMR - the lads on the Sweeney site that myself and Bassman77 go on, would be very interested. According to the DVLA site, NHK296M, the blue MK3 Cortina 2.0XL (used in the first 2 series of the Sweeney as the back up car to Regans Consul), was last on the road 1984, as that is when the tax expired!! There have been loads of rumours flying around that it survives but somebody also said it was in a Ford dealer showroom in Surrey in 2001/2, but then someone else said it might have been a lookalike car with false copied plates.

Someone else did that with other Consuls/Granadas but the real NHK295M survives (just about) under restoration by one of the Sweeney forum members, but he's got an awful long way to go!  Did you or your friend clock the number of the blue Cortina you saw 8 or 9 years ago? As NHK296M hasn't been taxed for 24 years - mind you - cars that have been off the road that long DO surface............

My Avatar is from an episode screengrab by the way.  Wish it was my backyard!
