New member says hiMy name is Stuart Rose, I live in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England.
I am 51 years old, been happily married for 29 years and have one daughter of 26
I run my own signwriting business, mainly lettering commercial vehicles and specilising in Curtain sided vehicle trailer signwriting
Have just got into restoring old Dinky/Corgi cars, after about 10 years activilly building plastic model kits like Airfix etc, don't have the time especially reseaching what you are building.
My first projects are a Corgi Hillman Imp and Triumph Herald Coupe, also in the pipeline is the Corgi Convair, Chevy Impala + 2 ERF lorrys,Its been really enjoyable buying cars in poor condition that have been played with throughout the years, striping them down giving them a repaint, restoring them to as good as new condition
Site is very informative, keep up the good work

To the family Stuart, I'm sure you'll love it on here, something for everyone. I live about 10 miles south of you next to the A1, just off junction 15
Not really into restoring (yet!) but collect 1/50 trucks amongst other things

I don't suppose you do 'Dinky' size signwriting - I'm sure you would get a lot of customers off this forum.

big welcome and dinky signwritingthanks all for the warm welcome everybody
I have had a go at producing my own small decals with quite good results, most of them have been printed with my own inkjet printer onto clear or White decal film, Scale registration plates are easy to do. The big problem is printing White, you really need an alps printer for this
Keep up the good work

Heyup - welcome
For 'white' transfers you can cheat sometimes... print the colours on clear decal paper and put a bit of white behind....
I'll post some pictures when I get back onto my main PC

Put a circular white transfer - made from white decal paper first
Then the rest of it on clear decal paper over the top - the thick black edge hides any discrepancies

from one newbie to another. Reading your intro was like thinking out loud for me, I too have just got into it after wanting to do it for 20 years, and I too have been building plastic models for a number of years...and to top it all, I too absolutely love picking up old beaten up models and restoring them to original glory. Hope you enjoy it here as much as I have so far!

introductionsWhat a friendly site this is, thanks to everyone, you have all made me very welcome.
I want to restore old Dinky/Corgi models of classic British and American cars from the sixtys, as I said my first projects are a Corgi Hillman Imp (I had a Mettalic Green one of these in 1977, after my fist car which was a Mini Traveller, those were the days!!!) also I've got a Corgi Triumph Herald Coupe.
I picked up a Dinky Ford Capri from a car boot sale for £1.00 in poor condition, someone had badly repainted in Black, the windows had paint on to, it looked rough, I took it apart, put the body and glazing in caustic soda and have resprayed it the same colour as the original
I'm lucky as to match the original colours I use a pantone paint chart then mix the colours using Humbrol enamels thinned with cellulose thinners and sprayed through an airbrush, (paint dries quicker and to a high gloss finish)
I will post pictures when they are finished
Anyway keep up the good work, super site!!!!!!!
