Maffmoose

Hi all, as requested I thought I would come and introduce myself.
My real name is Matthew, I prefer Matt (Maffmoose being a derivation of Matthew) and I have just started die cast vehicle restoration as a hobby.  I have been meaning to do it now for 20 years.  You know how it is, a box of old cars in the loft that you swear you'll sort through one day; mucking about searching for toys on ebay and saying things, to yourself and your uninterested partner, like...blimey I used to have that or I've got the remains of that upstairs.  So here I am, doing something about it.

I am a Doctor Who NUT, have been since 74 and also collect anything to do with it. Got my son into it too!  I also love star wars and still have my 70s collection (much to my wife's chagrin!)  I love Dan Brown and anything about the holy grail and the Knights Templar and read a lot of related fiction.

I trained as an electrician many moons ago but have had many career changes since then, including a stint in the police, training as a lawyer and working for the courts. I am now a customer relations professional working for a local authority.

I am mostly interested in emergency vehicles, tv and movie vehicles and any model of aston martin.  I prefer beaten up projects to mint or good quality stuff.

As I said, I am completely new to die cast restoration so any advice offered is gratefully received.

 Matt enjoy your stay.

I think we had all better start getting a little worried, it look's like the Yorkshire Mafia have been out recruiting again.

...again!!! Sounds like you have a lot of interests and I'm sure there will be plenty to chat about here.  Welcome aboard!
Mr.Blunden

Hello Matthew, and welcome to the forum. I am also a Dr who nut, prefer the Jon Pertwee era, especially his battles with Roger Del Gardo and UNIT and the Brigadier and Jo Grant and etc ... . I am also a Sci-Fi lover, and my family claim to fame is that my dad was in the film business, and was the production manager in charge of building the origional Millenium Falcon at Shepperton Studio's, and I can still remember going to see it as a kid.

Hope you enjoy your time on here, lots of friendly types abound, and it's the best site of it's kind on the net.

Hi Matt, a very warm welcome form the North East of England. I hope you'll enjoy your stay, and become one of our regulars. As long as you have a sense of humor and don't mind a little light hearted leg pulling, you'll fit in no problems.

Heyup Matthew - yes, welcome.

Remember there's no such thing as a daft question - though you may get some daft answers.

Look at Dinky Collector's website for good advice on restoring..
