Help, I need somebody....

Help! Not just anybody...  ooh-oh-oooh.  (OK, not a good transcription of the Beatles song - but the tune will start bouncing round your head now that you've read that bit!   )

This is a very long shot posting this request on here but I hope someone might be able to help:

I need a volunteer to help me with my layout at the Zedex 09 exhibition near Oxford on 11th October.  No experience required (let's face it, Ridley USA is not exactly a complex layout!) all you need to do is be there soon after 9.00 and we will take turns to chat to the public and keep the little s+d running.  Lunch and coffee/teas are provided.

An idea of how big Ridley USA is:

Compared to OO gauge, Z is a bit on the tiny side!

My wife was going to be my helper but she doesn't feel up to it with her recent bereavements - which I can understand.

Anyone fancy a different day out?

Please PM me if you think you could help.

I would give a small fortune to accompany you Tom....but I bet most UK members wait in line to help you out.
The pictures look great!

Alas, no takers Kees.  Andrew has said he'll pop in to say hello if he can    but no-one has volunteered yet.

For anyone else who might be passing, this is the MRC's website:

I'm hoping that my daughter's father-in-law can be persuaded to help.  We've been friends since our kids were toddlers and he's always said he likes watching model railways - well now is his chance!

btw, I've been allocated a corner area, which suits me fine (I'm the slightly yellow highlighted stand) but it's right next to a big railway dealer (which is not so fine 'cos I'll probably spend money!)

Tom If I lived a little closer I would definately take you up on the offer. I love model railways.

Hope you find a helper, Tom.  I love model railways and would be happy to help, but that weekend I'll be in Germany again - this time for work.

I've just read this post Tom and being just a few miles away I would say that I'd be there like a shot apart from one small (& by that I mean LARGE) problem.  I've just talked my father-in-iaw into coming over to help me with some jobs at home I can't do on my own so sadly I can't even stop by to say hello.   I'd reschedule but some of the stuff is in preparation for my daughter's birthday a couple of days later.

If you're back in this area another time and need a hand do give me a shout - I'd enjoy having a play with that lot!

Fred, if you are going by car, why not come by, pick up those Lp's for the others in the UK? Have a little talk about our hobby?
keesie25

I think Fred is not going after all.........

I Have a lot going on at the moment Tom it's a job to say whether I am going to be busy or not on that date

are let you know nearer to the date love to help

Only just seen your post Keesie!

No chance to stop in Holland I'm afraid.  I'll be flying Thurday afternoon/evening, setting the exhibition stand up on Friday, and then at the show Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and flying back to England Monday evening.

Probably a little time to look for toys in Cologne on Friday afternoon, and the evenings are usually enjoyable, as there are lots of nice restaurants and pubs, but going abroad for work sounds more fun than it really is!
keesie25

Busy time Fred, well, maybe next time!
Old Tom

Just a reminder that:

Tomorrow is when I become an exhibitionist!     (Is that the right word?   )

So anyone near this village just outside Oxford, please pop in and say hello.  I'll probably be asleep, so just give me a shove...

Too bad your across the pond fred if it was stateside near me I would love to come help.  Another of my many hobbies is model railways I have a nice sized n scale layout.  For those unfamiliar you have O then HO which is half and N is half again.

Sorry Tom cannot make it tomorrow   have a great time
Andrew

Tom just going to enquire did it go OK sorry that I couldn't make it down. Seen the video on you're YouTube channel and is amazing what can be done in such a small scale and in the words of Daft Dave Parp Fnnr Fnnr
Old Tom

Thanks mini95, it went ever so well.

Some really nice complements and my layout was very popular with the ladies   .   (I think it was because it looks like a real scene rather than an exercise in technical wizardry which the other layouts were.)  Anyone want to buy an exhibition class layout that's also a chick magnet?
Corgi kid

The layout is fantastic.  I had no Idea they could be made so small. Well done mate
