Hello

I'm Paul and I live in Hereford. I'm 52 and have taken early retirement after 35 years with BT - should have more time for hobbies now

I'm mainly into 1/76th scale London buses - EFE and OOC. I have made some white metal kits in my time though and some code 3 conversions, the best of which was probably my RT1, made before EFE brought out their own RT2 casting.
I made four, sold three and kept one for myself.

Hi there Paul, welcome to you. I only have two doubledecker buses, so I hope you will still talk to me.

Hi Paul, thanks for introducing yourself, you may have heard this saying before "you don't have to be mad to join us, but it helps" and take it from me, it certainly helps with our forum.

Hi Paul, just noticed you are 'watching'. Welcome back. I see you retired at an early age. Such a lot of time on your hands, so I envy you! Tell us what you are doing these days please!

(added 10 minutes later)Wel, Paul is gone offline again, maybe he is busy. I think I will 'risk' a PM......

You just missed me. I was on for most of the day yesterday.  Tried replying to your PM Keesie, but am not allowed to ?!!

I don't visit here very often because this place seems to be mainly about Corgi and Dinky restorations. I know nothing about these models and am not particularly interested, although it's nice to see what some folk can achieve.

It was the tips section that first attracted me here.

My main interest in diecast is making code 3 buses from EFE, OOC etc.

I retired early after 35 years in BT becasue I didn't like the way the company was going. Senior management had, IMHO, completely lost the plot. When a redundancy package came along that was slightly more generous than previous offerings I decided it was the right time to go. And boy was I right, subsequent offers have been vastly reduced, and the victimisation of staff has begun, to try to "manage" people out of the company at nil cost.

Now I have to see how long I can last as a non-taxpayer before I start drawing on my BT pension .

Meanwhile every day is a holiday, and currently I'm busy scanning all my old negatives into the PC - it's going to take a while.

I'll try to get around to posting some code 3 pics in the bus section sometime

Hi there Paul. Good to 'have you back', so to speak. I don't  know why you were not allowed to answer my PM. Never mind.

As you say you are not really interested in Corgi or Dinky, ok, but as you can mentioned there is a bus-section as well, and no doubt there are  members here you can talk to about your subject. Also you can join in or vote in our resto-competition if you like.

There are more members in here that had trouble with their companies (.....), and there are threads you can mention and read those subjects as well. You will have to tell us how you manage to be a non-tax payer. (Maybe you live like a traveling gypsy....)

As long as you enjoy what you are doing that is all that matters,

No. It's simple really. No income = no tax to pay

When you take redundancy, the first £30,000 is tax free (I put the rest in my pension).
keesie25

So, you live on 'nothing'?
