Jorvik Andi

Hello from Yorkshire noobie

Hi i'd like to introduce myself here, my name is Andi and i have recently gone into my second childhood and have started to collect 1:72 hongwell/cararama models along with Horby trackside and oxford 1:76 models. I'm hoping to build a train layout in 00 guage and have experimented building some cardboard buildings, i'm just waiting to try and be rehoused and hopefully will have a decent sized loft to go and hideaway in and build the layout.
I'm interested in learning all i can about how to do code3 modifications to models but at this moment am not sure as to what mediums to use to build up the models when i have cut them and any helpful pointers would be most appreciated. Also is there any where that you can buy 1:72 scale light bars for use in code3 mods?
I have a lot of spare time due to being Medically retired and would love to be able to do something constructive with all this time i have on my hands, although it would be on a shoestring budget.

Thats all i can add at this moment.

Andi. It looks like you found the right place for your interests. Most of the restorers on here use easily obtained materials for their resorations and so long as you don't need to source a lot of missing or damaged parts, the models are rather inexpensive to do. The folks on here are rather friendly and very willing to answer any questions you may have. As Scotty said, browse the archives as a lot of questions have been answered. Use the search feature to narrow to a specific topic. Hope you enjoy your stay.

By the way, with a name like Jorvik do I assume you're from York? I lived in York most of my life until recently moving to Bridlington.

I failed the subtle intelligence test in Andi's name - Yorvik was the Viking name for York - guess where he lives!
