Hello from new memberHi, I joined the group recently. I have always loved toy cars and still have most of the many Dinky and Corgi toys given to me in my childhood in the 60s and 70s.
These days my main interest is in the 1930's and I am a keen collector of Art Deco bakelite (particularly telephones) from this period. I have also started a new collection of Dinky Toys that were originally produced pre war, some photos of my collection are shown below which does include some pre war made items and also some copies! I have restored some of these examples myself Daimler, Vauxhall, 22 truck...., where the original finish has been too far gone to restore, using auto spray paints.

Welcome to you John. Why the name Zealand? Great pictures of your models! Very interesting that you also collect bakelite, which is the same word in Dutch. I remember those old phones, but also ashtrays, and we had a sort of counsil-radio switch on the wall, made of bakelite.

Many thanks for your replies.
Zealand was the first name that came into my head, I was thinking of an offshore platform in the North Sea, but probably should have spelt it "Zeeland". It's interesting to know it also means bakelite in Dutch!
I will moving house shortly, but when I've finally unpacked I will try and post some other photos from my collection.

NewbieWelcome from the U.S. Nice, nice collection. I love the three wheel tractor artic box truck. Also the red Airflow is just exquisite. Love the style. The Dinky Brown Truck and the green truck; one is post war and one is prewar; is there any metal fatigue in either of them?

Zealand, yes, in Dutch you should spell it as Zeeland, but near Australie it should be New Zealand. Anyway, I would not change it if I were you!
Good luck moving house!

Nile, The Mechanical Horse GWR trailer is pre war and does have some minor fatigue; the axle retaining points are missing. The cab unfortunately is a postwar example painted to match.
The green 25S truck which was originally maroon but has been painted over green (during the war?) is prewar. There is no fatigue on this except for the wheels which are showing some signs. There are some casting differences between this and the post war model which I mentioned in my previous post in the pre war dinky forum.
Unfortunately the Chrysler Airflow is a copy but I think looks convincing.
Many thanks for your interest.
