Gumbo and Retirement

We have been talking about odd foods on here recently so I thought I might mention tonite's dinner. I am fixing gumbo. It is delectable. Takes about 6-7 hours of simmering on the stove. Kind of chilly, very windy, Fall is coming with a bang. Hot cocoa, beef stew, chili and of course gumbo.

My life has changed a great deal lately. I don't have the monstrous house anymore. My wife and I are at a campground with our travel trailer semi-permanently situated in the woods in a very small town 65-70 miles South of Chicago. We are now in Indiana. Great place for nature, many oak trees, deer, birds, raccoons (of course), squirrels. We are very cozy here with my cable TV, computer etc. We have recently purchased another travel trailer in Florida in another campground about 35 miles from Tampa/St. Pete, 25 miles from the ocean in a town called Land O' Lakes. No more snow, no more ice, no more heavy coats. Just sun, sun, sun. The trailer has a deck, the campground has a pool, hot tub, day/game room, pool table open 24 hours a day. I can swim whenever I want. Abit steep, about $425.00 a month with an annual membership of $375.00. This is year round monthly space. I look at it this way, an apartment will easily cost me that much, so not too bad when you look at it that way. Great life this retirement.

Nile, it sounds very promising and prosperous for you! One remark:do you take your collection with you in the camper?
I suddenly realize by asking this question your campers are not campers, but mobile homes. With us campers are for use in the summertime, and are not accomodated to 'bring your whole house'.........

That sound great. Ive got years before I retire, But Violet would say different. She says I already have.

No, campers are campers. Mine is only 32ft long. It is OK for the Summer but Winters get a bit of a struggle. I have a furnace, hot water heater, shower, toilet, complete kitchen, microwave, all compact. It is drafty though. Not a good place for the Winter. No water cause it freezes. The one I am currently in was my parents' trailer. Very unfit for zero weather. Not enough insulation. My wife and I used to come down here in the Winter for a change of venue. We would plug in electric heaters, electric blanket, and we just loved it, but living here full time dealing with the cold weather 24, 7 not a good thing.
My die cast and toys are all in storage right now. Still like to buy them but nowhere to put them.
