Geek modeI've been messing about for weeks trying to get a double monitor set-up on my computer. For the nerdy element it has a 3+gig processor, DVI cooled video card and 4 gig of cooled RAM with two half terrabyte hard drives in a striped raid array - in short - big, powerful and very, very fast. However all the lads in the office work on two monitors and it looks soooooo good, I got my office PC doing it no trouble on Windows 7 but at home on Vista it's taken ages but now it works, it means I can have loads of stuff open at once, drag between screens, work in multiple applications at the same time - this is my car database in two screen mode:
To give you an idea of scale this is 13" tall on screen, nearly 40" wide - it is just a fantastic way to work.
I'll be able to have the Diecast Drive in open, listen to iTunes, rip LPs and work on my die cast database all at the same time - while keeping email running too. Oh yes!
- and I complain I cannot understand a word my techy nerdy sons say to me, I guess it is all a matter of degree
Trouble is I visited a company like mine the other day and they all have three monitors going - you never catch up.

so to catch up you will need 360 degrees of screens or would that be to get ahead

When I next upgrade my tv from it's present size of 32" to 42", I intend using the redundant 32" as my new monitor screen, and my current 19" monitor can be moved to the studio computer instead of it's present 15".
Never actually tried two monitors although I knew it could be done, I am not sure just how to do it.

The trick is to get a video card with two outputs, my difficulty was that I'd bought a new video card that uses the new white, bigger plugs (DVI) rather than the old blue ones (VGA) and the monitors I was trying to use were older and not compatible. Most of the ons at the olffice would support old and new you just needed adaptor plugs - but I had to get two new monitors both DVI compatible.
Vista and Windows & both support twin monitors and the software that comes with your video card will do it if not. Basically once you have all the right hardware you just plug it in and it works.
