Car found in the mud after 36 years!!http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/n...er-36-years-hidden-under-mud.html
They say it's a Vauxhall Victor 101 but that's rubbish, you can tell by the bumper it's a BMC Farina - the alleged owner at the time has even commented!!
Not much left though............

''Taxed worse, I think the carb is flooded'' etc
I agree no way is it a Victor 101, the front bumper looks like that of a Wolseley 6/99 or 110...

The right car or not, it is an amazing story Mark. It reminds me of this story:
In the middle of the IJssel-lake, the big centre lake in Holland, a piece of the lake was surrounded by dykes, all water pumped out, and dried. (look it up, this piece is now called Flevoland). Checking the new surface, all sorts of things were found on which once was the bottom of the lake (note:till 1929 this was an inland-sea, called Zuiderzee, untill the big dyke was made, from North-Holland to Friesland), only then it was called IJssellake, and the water went sweet).
So, the remains of a a car were found, licenseplates still on, very low mileage, and from 1929. What happened? No storm blowing the car from a ship, no roads there before.
In the icy winter of 1929, the now IJssellake, no more salt water, but sweet, was frozen. People decided to have a car race on the ice, from Holland to Friesland. Unfortunately, one car went through the ice, it's owner was just in time to get out.
The license was traced afer the discovery, and yes, the son of the owner (died) came forward. He still had the paperwork of the car which once belonged to his dad.

In the mudNow theres an idea for a diorama. All you need is a Vanguards A60 upside down in a puddle
