Here is my entry for the May competition. Its the Corgi 268 Green Hornet. There is quite a lot of work involved in restoring this model as theres a lot of parts. Here is the first pics. The car cost £3.00 from the Reebok toyfair
Ater dismanteling the car I used the sand blaster at work to clean up the casting
Next a repair was made to the rear suspension using a piece of wire. I also did the same to the front grill release spring. The front suspension was fine and left as it was.
Next to do was paint the casting and replace the decal on the roof with a home made one. Ali G provided a picture of his cars decal for me to copy.
After all the bodywork was completed the whole thing was rebuilt and a repro box was bought off my friend to show off my entry. This project is one of the nicest ive done and I am pleased with the result.

Corgi, you did a great job! I have never seen one restored on the forum before. Even the 'bubbly' paint on the roof looks good, as it should be! How did you do that? Did that rough surface still appear through the primer? It look as new with that box, and you can be proud on what you did!
About 'a' May-competition, somewhere along the line someone mentioned that, but I never heard last winner Karl and Gaz say there is one. |

Thanks Kees, The roof as you know is supposed to look like vynal. The paint is not thick enough to give a smooth appearance. I gave it two coats of grey primer, tthree coats of black gloss and finished it off with a clear coat once the decal was applied. This helps to not only seal the decal but gets rid of the edge. _________________ Here's looking at you kid! |
